Meet the Team: Crystal Barrineau

Crystal Barrineau is Director of Marketing of OrderCounter. Her marketing foundation was built from nearly a decade of in-house and agency experience where she gained a wide perspective from corporate clients in credit unions, university, national hotel chains, and their restaurants. Crystal is in charge of developing brand and product marketing strategies, creating designs, and writing content that enables our restaurateurs and their managers to drive their business. Since starting her career at OrderCounter, she has helped empower young creatives to take hold of their careers, enforce the importance of teamwork within the workplace, and devise strategies that propel our restaurants to get them to where they want to be. Outside the office, Crystal spends her time heavily involved in the arts, technology, and entrepreneurial community.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve worked on, or are currently working on, and why?
Love designing the UI for all of our products. But the ones I’m most excited about is working with the dev team on updating the look and function of our Remote Backoffice: our restaurant managers can easily find the reports they are looking for and analyze it to empower them to run their restaurant efficiently. Strategy should always be at the core of design – how will tweaking this color help the restaurant owner ultimately make the best decision for their business? Studying human and consumer behavior is so fascinating.
How does your background relate to what you’re doing now at OrderCounter?
Grew up in a family restaurant; by age 12, I knew how to serve, wash dishes, calculate taxes, close a till, and manage a tiny restaurant. Been in the restaurant industry as a server my entire life up until after college. Did design work exclusively for national hotel chains and restaurants in between.

What are you passionate about?
Passionate about using creativity to solve problems for our partners and restaurant owners; empowering young creatives to take charge of their careers by being proactive, actively seeking feedback and opportunities by being involved with the community.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I finally learned how to whistle at age 28!
